The Blast Pro Series that was set to launch in Istanbul was rescheduled to late September a few weeks ago. This was due to an unexpected snap election called by the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The date for the opening has been moved to the 29th of September. Gamereactor cited that, after lengthy discussions with the authority, the tournament will be held in the Ülker Sports Arena in Istanbul, Turkey’s capital city. The group stage for the Blast Pro Series will kick off from the 28th of September.
Other than that, the names of the teams that will be joining in the upcoming event have also surfaced. Among the few prominent names, Cloud9. The American team will be stepping on the stage with their newest Turkish-American member Tarik ‘tarik’ Celik, to compete against Astralis, Virtus.pro, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Space Soldiers.
“Winning the Major was the biggest thing in my life, but playing live on the iconic Blast stage in Turkey and battling some of the best teams in the world in the home country of my parents and family will be an amazing experience,” tarik said. “We will do everything we can to make the fans proud, the Cloud9 star player promises.”
“It is amazing to see a spectacular tournament like Blast Pro Series happening in Istanbul and I am so excited to bring my teammates to Istanbul and Turkey to show them around and introduce them to the amazing people there.”
The rest of the lineup still remains unannounced and no further developments have been reported as of yet.
