Coca Cola recalls drinks from three US states
As per the data of the Food and Drug Administration, the popular fizzy drinks brand began recalling its products on November 6, 2023, after its Alabama distributor, United Packers filed a complaint. The distributor complained of finding harmful ‘Foreign Substances’ that can contaminate the drinks.

The issue is still ongoing due to which the company has recalled drinks from Mississippi and Florida as well. You can identify the recalled cases of the drinks by their ‘Best Buy’ dates. Diet Coke‘s date is January 29, 2024, and Sprite and Fanta Orange’s dates are June 29, 2024.
As per the reports, the contaminants are of the ‘Class II’ division, which means they can cause temporary adverse health issues that are reversible with medical care. However, as they pose a threat to consumers’ health the products have been recalled.
What are the possible Coca-Cola contaminants?
Coca-Cola and the FDA haven’t released the data confirming which ‘Foreign Materials’ are detected in the drinks. They also haven’t disclosed the possible health issues its consumption can cause.

However, food inspection firm FlexXray has explained the possible contaminants to the New York Post. As per the ‘Foreign Materials’ usually means inedible particles from the field, such as stones, metal, and/or insects, or matter from the handling process, such as plastic, glass, bone, paint chips, or rust.
Consuming these substances can lead to various health consequences for the stomach and digestive system including stomach ache, food poisoning, diarrhea, and more. Therefore it is best to not consume drinks that have a risk of including Foreign Substances.

This event marks the second time the beverage company had to pull back its supply from shelves because of a foreign contamination threat. In December 2021, the company notified that washers and bolts were present in 7000 cases of Minute Maid juices including Berry Punch, Strawberry Lemonade, and Fruit Punch flavors.
During that period it took them around one month to recall all the contaminated cartons. This time as the total amount of drinks is less the procedure will be much quicker but precaution is advised while purchasing Diet Coke, Sprite, or Fanta Orange.
