Fortnite rose to fame through its Battle Royale component and is known all around the gaming community for it. Now, recent leaks of Fortnite Season 7 have revealed that there are exciting things to look forward to. Fans are anticipating an open-world mode with the new season. In addition, Fortnite publishers have also been outspoken about their aim to expand the game beyond the battle royale last-man-standing mode.
Fortnite Open-World
The initial reveal happened through the lawsuit between Epic Games and Apple, and there has been more information coming out. Internal documents used in the lawsuit had revealed collaborations with several celebrities such as Lebron James and Lady Gaga, and characters like Naruto. In addition, some kind of basketball mode and plans for an open-world mode were also apparent.
- Fortnite news and info source HYPEX has said that the developers have been experimenting with an “open-world simulation sandbox mode”. This will probably take the smash hit over the bounds of the battle royale mode, where Sandbox is a new kind of map.
- This new information also confirmed what HYPEX had already revealed. After a recent update, a new map was found deep within the update files. It has been noticed that Epic has already loaded codes and elements of the new mode into the backend. This suggests that a release date could be very close.
Speculations
One of the popular theories is that Fortnite could bring out a mode where players can move around in an open world. They will be able to change aspects of the environment as they please, similar to Minecraft. Another theory is that there could be an open-world mode of the PvE Save the World mode in Fortnite. In May 2021 it was announced that the Fortnite Crew Pack for May would allow permanent access to Save the World mode. This has been seen as an attempt to bring back the original mode while gearing up for the new updates.
