Fortnite: Preferred Item Slots Guide, How To Use
After ages of anticipation, Preferred Item Slots have entered Fortnite, enabling gamers to organize their Shotguns and Shield Potions instantly!
It’s finally here, thanks to the v17.20 official release. Gamers will now have their firearms and essentials show up in the same tab each time they grab them, which not only makes life easier but may also help boost your game concentration.
Recommended Settings
While everyone’s priorities and playing style will differ, here’s a recommended Preferred Item Slots allocation in Fornite:
| LOADOUT | ITEM |
| 1st Slot | Shotgun |
| 2nd Slot | Assault Rifle |
| 3rd Slot | Sniper Rifle |
| 4th Slot | Utility |
| 5th Slot | Consumable |
Loadout Slots
- It’ll be easier to memorize where your firearms are if you start with a short-range firearm (Shotgun), then a mid-range firearm (Assault Rifle), and finally a long-range firearm (Sniper Rifle).
- The last two slots are more versatile, but we suggest a Utility, which consists of Grenades and Fishing Rods, and a Consumable Item like a Shield in the final slot.
How To Use
- Start Fortnite and go to the main Lobby window.
- Go to Settings and select “Game” settings (cog icon).
- Select “Configure” next to Preferred Item Slot and make sure that the option is turned on.
- Assign your weapons and items and click “Assign” before exiting.
- When you begin a game after choosing your Preferred Item Slots, every weapon or item you collect will be allocated to the appropriate slot until your inventory is full.
- Unallocated objects will be placed in the first usable slot until a preferred item is acquired, at which point the preferred item will fill the spot. When you obtain a rarer variant of a firearm, the lesser rarity will be replaced.
- Epic Games also stated that if you have ‘Auto-Sort Consumables to the Right’ enabled in Settings, Fortnite will continue to function normally.
