Daydream: Forgotten Sorrow | Spider Lair Chapter + Achievements

BY JC Paredes 3 years AGO 5 MIN READ

Hello to my arachnophobic people out there. Take this as a warning, as spider swarms are coming into the next stage of the game! This area can get confusing, from webs to traps. Here’s a guide to completing Daydream Forgotten Sorrow’s Spider Lair.

Spoiler Warning: Please note that this article contains potential spoilers for those who have not completed the game. Proceed with caution if you wish to preserve the surprise and enjoyment of experiencing the game firsthand.

Spiders Stay Away from Fire

You’ll be greeted by a giant spider that doesn’t welcome visitors. He takes Birly, and it’s your job to rescue him!

  • Follow the path until you reach where Birly is. Just make sure to follow the path with bonfires. Be careful not to step on them; it’ll be game over for you.
  • Go up the ledge where the last bonfire is. Grab the unbloomed flower right next to it and pull it. It’ll spit out some blossoms that will drive the spiders away from your path.

  • After crossing the ledge, you’ll find Birly upside down, wrapped in webbings. Grab a torch and hold left-click near him to remove the spider webbings.
  • While holding a torch, you need not worry about the spiders even when they’re near you. They will not do damage or cause you any harm.

Crossing the Path

  • The gust of wind will put out your torch. Don’t worry; you don’t need it to proceed to your next location.
  • So how do you move past the spiders blocking your path? There’s a tree trunk near the next campfire. Jump behind it and push it towards the fire. This should pull off the web and burn it, releasing the other tree trunks on top that will kill the spiders blocking the path.

Spider Chase and Spider Eggs

  • In the next area, you’ll find yourself being chased again by the giant spider. Keep moving forward until you reach a set of torches. Make sure you grab one because you’re gonna need it!
  • The spider will then jump ahead of you and block your path. It will also open a new route for you below, so just go back, take that path, and jump down the hole.
  • In the next area, you’ll have to navigate through spider eggs. Try not to break them, as breaking 3 consecutive eggs will kill you. The game does make it easier whenever you die. When you try again, the eggs you already broke won’t be there anymore.

Tree Log Trap

  • Grab a torch and keep moving forward until you reach the area with the tree log trap. You see that one spider south of the lamp post? Use your torch to guide it near the trap. This will trigger and squish the spider and clear your path.

For the next trap, carry Birly and throw him across to disable the trap.

After locking out the giant goo, you’ll be inside an area with an obstacle-like course. You’ll have to run fast enough so the monster goo doesn’t reach and take you.

3 Giant Blocks

  • To cross the giant blocks successfully, you must push off the stone on top of the spider’s cage. The spider will then follow you.
  • Use it to hold the stone blocks and command Birly to operate the lifters accordingly. Just make sure you crouch so you don’t get squished!

Air Breeze

  • This puzzle is pretty simple. The idea is to block all passageways so that it doesn’t blow off your torch, and you can burn the webbings blocking your path.
  • First, push the first wooden block on the 1st track. Next, push the green boxes and command Birly to hold them for you. Use the first box to help you get on top of the green ones.
  • Command Birly to let go of the green boxes. This will push you back south. Next, command Birly to pull the lever so you can use the coal cart to get to the next box. Push the box so it covers the 3rd track. Lastly, grab a torch and move on to the next area.
