In order to defeat Giovanni in Pokemon Go in April 2023, you must first defeat his Pokemon lineup. Check out which Pokemon appears this month!

Trainers should be able to counter what Giovanni brings to the battle with the following lineup of possible counters. There are certainly loads of different Pokemon that can fill in for this suitable lineup, however, most should have no difficulties putting together the team suggested here!

SHADOW LUGIA COUNTERS: Rock, Electric, Ice-type Pokemon / Moves

My line up worked the best. First, he had his Persian. I used my Rhyperior (Cp3420) with his smack down/stone edge. One shield will be used here. After my first attack I switch over to Machamp (Cp2703) with Counter/Dynamic punch where I took him out. They use Kingler for the 2nd one where my Machamp used it’s 2nd attack and a 3rd. I than waste him as I did not shield. Lugia comes up. I than used my Tyranitar (cp3477) iron tail/fire blast and used off one attack. I also used my 2nd shield. They will take you out before a 2nd attack can come off, and they send another attack anyway. Don’t sweet it. Once Tyranitar goes down, switch back to rhyperior. Their will be just enough to finish Lugia off.

I study this over two weeks finding him everyday, and losing every day, until I did everything above and won!

This was so helpful thank you. I was finally able to beat him. I did Rhyperior and machamp like you said but then I used Zacian at the end against Latias. I never even needed to use a shield which is crazy because I tried so many times to beat him before. Thanks for the tips!

Thanks I try these combination and it did not work do the cp have to be higher than 2800 -3100?

I can’t get past his Persian. Right now his Persian is coming at me with over 14,000cp. And I don’t have a Rhyperior yet. My Machamp is not strong enough to take him on. I don’t have good matches over 3,000cp for any of his line-up. My Lucario is even less than 2,000cp. I’ve defeated Giovanni twice before but I do not know why the heck this time he’s so much freakin stronger. I’m level 40 and play every day…I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but clearly something very important.

To beat Persian I used scrafty 3 star cp 1534 counter 12 power-up-punch 50 twice and my hitmonchan once took him out. I also use hitmonchan cp 2122 counter 12 close-combat 100 on rhyperior then swithched back to scrafty. But dont have the right 3rd combination to take out latatis:(
