Pokemon GO: How to fix Curveball issue
The recent Pokemon Go update might have introduced a “wobbly” obstacle to your catching strategies – a malfunctioning curveball throw. Curveballs are a must-have in any trainer’s arsenal, boosting catch rates significantly. But fret no more! Here’s a breakdown of the issue and a quick fix to get your curveballs on point again.
The Jittery Throw
The culprit behind your curveball woes seems to be the “Native Refresh Rate” setting. As posted by TheSilphRoad, this feature, when enabled, offers smoother visuals by matching your device’s display refresh rate. While it enhances the look of the game, it appears to be causing glitches with the curveball animation in the latest update.
Curveball Glitch:
- Shaky Ball: The Pokeball might jitter or stutter during the throwing motion.
- Reset Throws: The throw animation resets, forcing you to start over.
- Off-Target Throws: The ball throws erratically, often landing far from the target Pokemon.
Curveball Fix
Luckily, the solution is a straightforward one. Here’s how to disable the Native Refresh Rate setting and get your throws back to normal:
- Launch the Pokemon Go app.
- Tap the Pokeball icon (bottom center).
- Select “Settings” (gear icon, top right corner).
- Scroll down and find “Advanced Settings.”
- Under “Quality,” locate the toggle for “Native Refresh Rate.”
- Turn it off.
With Native Refresh Rate disabled, your curveball throws should function smoothly once again. You’ll be able to confidently throw those curved balls and maximize your catch rate on those elusive Pokemon.
It’s important to note that disabling the Native Refresh Rate might result in a slightly less visually smooth gameplay experience. However, for most trainers, the accuracy and catch rate boost offered by a functioning curveball outweigh the visual trade-off.
Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, is constantly working on improvements and bug fixes. An update might address the curveball glitch while maintaining the benefits of the Native Refresh Rate. Keep an eye on official Pokemon Go channels and communities for updates on potential fixes.
