Pokemon GO: Vivillon – Strengths and weaknesses
Over a month ago, a new set of Pokemon made their debut in Pokemon GO. Alongside Scatterbug and Spewpa, players now have the opportunity to have Vivillon in Pokemon GO! When you encounter Vivillon or any of its first two forms, you’ll want to be prepared and know its strengths and weaknesses. If you’re looking for a guide to help you out with that, we’ve got you covered! Keep reading to find out everything you need to know before setting out on a journey to capture this dual-type Pokemon.
How to get Vivillon in Pokemon GO
Getting Vivillon will demand a lot from Trainers. As the saying goes, nothing good ever comes easy. To have a Vivillon on your team, you first need to capture its first form: Scatterbug. From there, you will have to involve it to Spewpa and then Vivillon.
The pattern of your Vivillon depends on which region you belong to. Check out the map below for reference!

For Trainers to have an encounter with Scatterbug, Trainers need to pin Postcards which they can receive from their in-game friends. This is one of the most important steps as you will need friends who regularly send you Gifts in Pokemon GO.
- Before opening any Gift you receive from your friends, pin the Postcard first. When you do this, you are able to progress through the Vivillon sub-medal where the Postcard came from. Take note that there are different types or patterns of Vivillon depending on which region it is from.

- After successfully capturing a Scatterbug, you will know which pattern you will get once you fully evolve it to Vivillon. Trainers need a total of 125 Scatterbug Candy to have a fully-evolved Vivillon in their team.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Once you fully evolve your Scatterbug into a Vivillon, you will have a dual-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO. It is both a Bug and Flying-type Pokemon, making it a worthwhile addition to your growing roster in Niantic’s AR Pokemon game.

Vivillon’s weaknesses in Pokemon GO are Electric, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Rock-type moves. So if you’re going after Trainers who have Pokemon like that on their team, make sure to be on your guard so you won’t be overpowered. It is especially weak against Rock-type moves.
If you’re looking for the strongest moveset you can equip on Vivillon in Pokemon GO, your best bet is to use its Gust and Hurricane moves. With Gust as its Fast Attack and Hurrican as its Charged Attack, you’ll be dishing out damage in no time with this Pokemon. Another one of its best moves is Bug Buzz as it is focused on damage. Just be careful not to get too carried away! Preparation is always the key to surviving encounters in Pokemon GO.
