Horizon Forbidden West Criticized By Fans Over Recycled Animation
Now that Horizon: Forbidden West has already achieved the gold stage of production and is ready to debut on PS5 and PS4 on February 18th, we’re seeing more and more content from the next Guerrilla Games game. We’ve recently witnessed a comparison between this sequel and the first Horizon game. IGN shared a video that caused a stir due to a brief sequence in which an animation from the next game appears to be identical to one from Horizon: Zero Dawn.
- A fan observed that the animation of Horizon Forbidden West is recycled from the first Guerrilla Games game, which was released in 2017 for PlayStation 4, and uploaded it online insulting the video game and expressing his displeasure with the choice to utilize it in the sequel.
- The release of this snippet sparked a social media controversy; with both supporters and critics of the reuse of existing content in video game creation expressing their views in a respectful manner on various social networks.

Nothing new here…
- However, this is not the first time that a debate with similar issues has erupted on social media. Kratos pushing and mounting the boat in God of War: Ragnarok was recently accused of having the same animation as in the original God of War.
- Video game recycling has received mostly positive feedback in both this and the preceding example. Many fans think it’s a good method to save money and speed up the development of new games.
- Horizon Forbidden West will be out for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on February 18. Regardless of whether or not they recycle animations. 🤗
