The tournament will begin from March 26 onwards. The primary clash is between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. The Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) has made several changes within the IPL 2022. Here are some major changes made in IPL 2022:
It is the first time in IPL history that the tournament is conducted in a single state. Earlier, there was only 1 DRS available. But now BCCI has changed this rule, there’ll be two DRS reviews per innings.
“In each innings, the quantity of reviews has been increased from one to 2,” the BCCI said.
Some changes are also made just in case of super over gets tied in the playoffs or finals.
“If conditions don’t permit an excellent Over, or subsequent Super Overs within the time available to see the winner as described, then the team which, at the top of the relevant regular season, finished within the higher position in the league table is going to be deemed as the winner of the relevant play-off match.”
BCCI has also agreed to use the new Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) rules introduced a few days ago. The new rule is that the new batsmen will be on the strike in event of being caught out irrespective of the non-striker has crossed the half crease.
The new batsmen will only take the strike unless it’s a change of the over. This led to many players taking advantage in event of a high catch. Earlier, the non-striker who had crossed over will take the strike on the following ball, while the new batter stood at the opposite.
