The Metropolitan police confirmed her passing in a statement and have notified her next of kin. However, the police have stated that they are not treating the death as suspicious. This has provided some reassurance that there may not be any foul play involved.

Sinéad O’Connor has been vocal about her mental health struggles over the years. The singer revealed that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2003. She had attempted suicide in 1999 on her 33rd birthday.
Eight years ago, Sinéad O’Connor disclosed on Facebook that she had overdosed due to problems between her ex-husband Donal Lunny. However, Irish police located her and ensured she received proper medical attention.
In 2017, she lost custody of her youngest son, Shane. During this time, Sinéad battled suicidal thoughts and mental illnesses. Last year, Shane died by suicide which took a toll on her spirit. He was 17.
