As of November 2022, there are five volumes of The Eminence in Shadow light novel available globally. The first season of the show adapted the first two volumes of Daisuke Aizawa’s light novel series.

Additionally, the next season will introduce several new characters such as Juggernaut the Tyrant, Yukime the Spirit Fox, Crimson the Vampire, Duke Doem, Giant Bat, and many other enigmatic figures from the original light novel series.

Minoru Kagenou has been obsessed with becoming stronger, undergoing intense training to achieve his goal, but not for recognition, he blends in with the crowd. He poses as a regular student during the day, but at night, he uses a crowbar to defeat local biker gangs.
After a truck accident, he believed his ambitions were over, but instead, he reawakens as Cid, a powerful noble in another world where magic exists. Cid becomes Shadow and creates Shadow Garden to fight the Cult of Diablos, which was initially imagined as fictional, but becomes real as Shadow Garden grows.
