A 7.1 Magnitude Earthquake near New Zealand has struck the natives with an imminent fear of tidal waves rising. Although authorities have taken to Twitter and other social media. The Kermadec Islands Earthquake have people on hold of potential after quakes that can ensue.
According to Geoscience Australia, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Kermadec Islands region of New Zealand on Thursday at a depth of 10km, approximately 1000km northeast of the North Island.
The quake was initially reported as a 6.8 magnitude tremor but was later upgraded.

The Bureau of Meteorology stated that Australia was not under threat of a tsunami, and NZ Civil Defence also confirmed that there was no risk to New Zealand following the earthquake.

- The US Tsunami Warning System issued a warning of hazardous waves for certain coasts.
- It stated that some coasts of the Kermadec Islands could experience tsunami waves of 0.3m to 1m above the tide level, while tsunami waves for the coasts of Fiji, New Zealand, and Tonga were expected to be less than 0.3m above the tide level. NZ Civil Defence urged people to evacuate if an earthquake is prolonged or strong.

- Moreover, in June 2019, a forceful 7.2-magnitude earthquake triggered a minor tsunami at Raoul Island.
In a statement, NZ Civil Defence declared that New Zealand is not in any danger of a tsunami following the M7.0 earthquake in the Southern Kermadec Islands. It advised people to evacuate if an earthquake lasts for an extended duration or is forceful, stating, “Remember, if an earthquake is long or strong, get gone.”
