NBA: Draymond Green puts Rudy Gobert on chokehold | Will he get suspended?

San Francisco, California – Things got heated during the Warriors vs Timberwolves In-Season Tournament game on Tuesday. With just less than two minutes into the first quarter, both teams got chippy after Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels jawed at each other. Warriors forward Draymond Green came to Klay’s rescue and put Wolves center Rudy Gobert in a chokehold. With this, NBA fans are calling for Green’s immediate suspension.

McDaniels, Thompson, and Green were all ejected following the ruckus they made. However, GSW’s head coach Steve Kerr defended Green and said that Gobert held Klay by the neck first, prompting Draymond’s act. Given that the All-Star power forward is a hot head and has a knack for causing trouble, maybe it’s high time he gets that hefty suspension plus fines. Golden State lost a close one against Minnesota, 104-101, especially since their core wasn’t playing. Steph was ruled out of the game while Green and Thompson were ejected early in the game.

Is Draymond Green facing a potential NBA suspension?

As of this writing, Adam Silver is yet to give his final verdict on the latest NBA scuffle. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the league is already investigating and will give a final ruling on Thursday, right before the Warriors face the Oklahoma City Thunder.

As the ratings are going, it seems that there will be some sort of penalty that will be given to Draymond Green.

Meanwhile, fans want more than just a simple 1-game suspension

Earlier this year, Draymond Green acted similarly during the 2023 playoffs when he intentionally stomped on Domantas Sabonis’ chest. While the Sacramento Kings star was lying down on the floor, Green continuously stepped on Sabonis. He was ejected and was later given a 1-game suspension.

Now, the 33-year-old veteran is back at it again and people are condemning his actions. Fans are, to say the least, unhappy with how Draymond Green behaved. He was completely out of the play and it was really an unnecessary fight. Clearly, the NBA should act on these kinds of moments.
