Netflix’s latest docuseries, “Alexander: The Making of a God,” has been given an age rating of 16+. While the age recommendation is in place, we strongly encourage parents to guide their teens due to explicit content, including scenes of same-sex kissing, violence, and sexual content.
Netflix’s “Alexander: The Making of a God” is a six-part series uncovering the journey of a young man named Alexander, seeking his path after his father’s death. The show follows Alexander as he leads his country in a quest for dominance, eventually creating the largest Western empire in history within six years, from Greece to India.

According to Dr. Salima Ikram from the American University of Cairo, Hephaestion was not just a close friend of Alexander, but perhaps his “greatest love”. The series emphasizes that same-sex relationships were commonplace in ancient Greece, where specific vocabulary for homosexuality was lacking or in short, just a normal thing before.
While the show provides an engaging look into Alexander’s life, viewers should be mindful of explicit content, making it suitable for a more mature audience.
