Nintendo’s Switch Lite set to house smaller battery, FCC filings state

Nintendo’s upcoming Switch Lite is set to house a smaller battery than the original Switch model, according to new filings from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Switch Lite, which is due to launch in September, is set to use a 13.6 watt-hour (Wh) battery that’s 16% smaller than the 16Wh battery found in original Switch model.

According to the FCC filings, the revised version of the original Switch, which launched in some regions this month, features the same 16Wh battery as the launch model – meaning increased battery for life for both the updated original Switch model and the new Switch Lite.

It’s said that Nintendo’s official estimate for battery power is set to be from three to seven hours offered by the upcoming Switch Lite – a stark improvement when compared to the original model’s two and a half hours to six and a half hours.

The Nintendo Switch Lite, by comparison, will net you somewhere in the region of £170-£200. But remember, it can only be played and used as a handheld console.
