Pokemon Go Air Adventures Delayed Due To Recent Developments

BY JC Paredes 5 years AGO 2 MIN READ

Because of “recent developments,” Pokemon Go has decided to postpone the release of two new variant Pokemon. Niantic declared on July 22nd that it will not be releasing a scheduled collaborative work with Pokemon Air Adventures. The unidentified “recent developments” are most probably associated with the continuing COVID-19 disease outbreak.

The anticipated partnership would have launched a new costumed Pikachu unique to Okinawa. This comes along with a shiny version of Corsola, a region-exclusive Pokemon found in Okinawa and other regions.

Cases of COVID19 have been increasing in Japan, prompting the authorities to declare a state of emergency and impose tight limitations on future activities including the Tokyo Olympics. Tokyo authorities prohibited local attendees from joining Olympic events in order to reduce the risk of the latest outbreak. Japan has also put constraints on the sale of alcoholic beverages. On August 22nd, Okinawa’s state of emergency was extended.

Players have objected to Pokemon Go because it relaxes the limitations and precautionary measures put in place during the recent disease outbreak. Even though Niantic did not speak directly to the critiques, gamers responded negatively to Pokemon Go’s plans to roll back a few perks introduced to help preserve social distance during play.

Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, this year’s Pokemon Go Fest becomes a worldwide event with a $5 entry fee. The two-day event will include the opportunity to capture the Mythical Pokemon Meloetta, as well as a few new Shiny Pokemon and access to region-exclusive Pokemon not found in most countries. The festival will take place on July 17th and 18th.
