Pokemon GO: Best way to catch Mew and Mewtwo
Calling all Pokemon GO masters! Still on the hunt for those elusive legendaries, Mew and Mewtwo? Well, this guide’s here to dish the details on how to snag these bad boys and strengthen your team.
How to Catch Mew
First up, the mystical Mew. This ain’t a cakewalk, but follow these steps for the “A Mythical Discovery” Special Research quest and Mew will be yours:
Level Up, Trainer! Gotta be at least Level 15 to embark on this quest. Professor Willow will hit you up with the tasks when you’re ready.
- Conquer the Special Research – eight stages, each with three tasks, await you. Spinning Pokestops, catching Pokemon, transferring unwanted ones, walking with your buddy to earn Candies, landing Great Throws, hatching Eggs, battling in Gyms and raids, snapping up Kanto medals, and even catching a Ditto (talk about a challenge!).
- Each stage rewards you with Stardust, Rare Candies, and other goodies, culminating in the glorious encounter with Mew!
The Powerful Mewtwo:
Now, for the powerhouse, Mewtwo. This Psychic-type legend can be snagged through EX Raids and special events. Here’s the lowdown:
- EX Raids: Exclusive Access: Gotta be invited to participate.
- Earn those invites by raiding at qualifying Gyms.
- Keep your eyes peeled for EX Raid Passes with the showdown date, time, and location.
Battling and Catching Mewtwo
- Assemble a team of strong Pokemon with Dark-, Bug-, or Ghost-type moves (super effective against Mewtwo’s Psychic attacks!).
- After winning the raid, you get a shot at catching Mewtwo.
- Golden Razz Berries and excellent throws are your best friends here.
Special Events Keep Your Eyes Peeled
Mewtwo sometimes pops up during special event raids and limited-time events. Stay tuned to official announcements from Niantic to take advantage of these opportunities. Shadow Mewtwo is another possibility – some Team GO Rocket Special Research tasks have offered encounters with this shadowy variant.
- Your best bets are Ultra Balls, Golden Razz Berries, and Pinap Berries.
- Raids are best tackled by fellow trainers. The more, the merrier (and the easier the win).
- Perfecting those curveball throws significantly increases your catch rate. So, practice makes perfect!
