PS4 Trophy Section Showed PS3 Logo; Another Backward Compatibility Hint?
In recent weeks, we’ve seen a number of foreshadowing that might indicate that Sony’s next-generation platform PS5 (and possibly PS4) will be able to play games from the PS3 library backward through an upcoming update. PS4 Trophy section showed a glitch that reveals more indications.
If you checked your trophies yesterday, you may have noticed that some PS4 games displayed without any progress or achievements. Apparently, this problem has spread to the PlayStation mobile applications and the PS3 hardware as well. Games with the PS3 logo have also started to surface in this portion of the PS5 menu instead of the PS4’s.

Trophy Bug
Now that the problem has been fixed, you may look at your trophies without seeing any form of logo error. Because of this, the existence of the PS3 logo has reignited rumors about PS5 backward compatibility with this system: why is there a logo for this console edition?
Is Sony attempting to bring the PS3 library over to the PS5, and if not, what’s causing the problems? There is a possibility that the expectations have also just been exaggerated due to minor errors. However, it’s getting more and more frequent lately. 🤔
New Subscription Service?
- Right now, all we have are speculative theories and unsolved questions, along with a few patents showing that this capability is possible. PlayStation has not confirmed or denied that PS3 titles would be playable on PS5/PS4 in the future.
- Subscribers of the new service may be able to take advantage of backward compatibility. Assuming the company does to launch it, the PlayStation All Access service would combine PS Plus and PS Now in the manner of Xbox Game Pass.
