PS5: Apple Music Now Available

BY JC Paredes 4 years AGO 2 MIN READ

Apple Music users with a PS5 can now listen to their tunes, following an update released subtly this week by Sony.

The latest feature, which was first spotted by a Reddit user, enables gamers to link the PS5 to their Apple Music accounts in a similar fashion that they can link their Spotify accounts.

PS5 owners can listen to their Apple Playlist via the console in the background while playing games once they are linked. Additionally, Apple Music users can now browse and enjoy video content from the platform’s broad selection using the PS5.

Starting today, PS5 users with an Apple Music subscription can enjoy more than 90 million songs from Apple Music, tens of thousands of curated playlists, music videos in 4K, Apple Music Radio streaming today’s hits, classics, and country live, and personalized playlists based on your music preferences.
Background Music Play
PS5 users can either start the Apple Music app before hopping into a game or during gameplay by pressing the PS button on the DualSense wireless controller to access the Control Center and select the Music Function card.
Seamless Music Video Playback
Apple Music subscribers can also find and watch music videos from a wide selection of artists in the Apple Music app. Start by playing the video in full screen; if you decide you want to go back to your gameplay or navigate elsewhere on the PS5’s home screen, the audio from the music video will continue to play. If you want to go back to the music video, it’ll also pick up seamlessly from wherever you are in the song, with no interruption to the music.”

The PS5 is the first game console to enable Apple Music, which is especially creative given that Sony and Microsoft collaborated with Apple last year to create the Apple TV app compatible with their consoles.

I'm passionate about all things gaming, with a keen eye for detail and a knack for uncovering hidden secrets within games. My gaming journey began at a young age, captivated by titles like Resident Evil and Tomb Raider. Today, I enjoy exploring open-world RPGs and MMORPGs, consumed by their lore and crafting theories about their narratives. I'm also drawn to the suspenseful atmosphere of horror games and the intricate narratives of crime-themed titles, bringing a unique perspective to my writing. Beyond gaming, I have a fascination with anything unexplained and chilling, a passion that often spills over into my exploration of horror games. When I'm not engrossed in a virtual world, you can find me curled up and spending time with my adorable doggy sidekick, Teemo. As Managing Editor, I'm committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for our writing team. I communicate openly with my team members, addressing any content-related issues and providing guidance to help them excel.
