PS5 Sales Nets Sony $3.8 Billion

According to the latest statistics released by Finbold, the PS5 generated approximately $3.8 billion in revenue from the sale of 8.6+ million PS5s.

Every PS5 console typically costs $449.99. The Xbox Series X/S, its direct rival, has a worldwide sale of $2.04 billion and has supplied 5.12 million consoles at an average cost of $399.99 for each unit. Both devices have grossed $5.92 billion in overall revenue.

Is Storenvy Legit? Should You Buy A PS5 or An Xbox Series X?

Since neither Sony nor Microsoft has verified the figures, there’s no way to determine if they’re accurate. The PS5 total revenue, on the other hand, is consistent with the platform’s overall performance.

Fastest-Selling Console

The Xbox Series X/S is the most successful device release in Xbox history, with over a million devices sold on the first day. Microsoft hasn’t provided a revenue update since, but information about Sony’s latest hardware appears every now and then.

The PS5 is the fastest-selling gaming hardware in US history, outselling the PS4’s previous best. The latest PlayStation machine had sold over 6 million units globally by March.

PlayStation 5 revenues had surpassed 7.8 million as of March 31, according to a Sony accounting statement.  The market prominence of the Japanese company also shows no indication of waning.

Global Shortage

Naturally, under regular industry conditions, both devices could be doing even better. Due to a massive global stock shortfall in semiconductors, availability for each model remains to outstrip supply.

The console products of Sony and Microsoft aren’t the only devices having trouble; Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa previously cautioned that decreased products on the Nintendo Switch could last until 2021.
