PS5 Will Break PS4 Record Sales – Sony Predicts

BY JC Paredes 5 years AGO 2 MIN READ

As they gear up to break their own PS4 record sale by 2022, Sony intends to work around limited chip supply by producing 22.6 million PS5 consoles by April next year.

1998 was Sony’s highest console sales, with 22.6 million authentic PlayStation units sold. With over 155 million devices, Sony’s PS2 is the best-selling hardware of all time. In fiscal 2002, sales peaked at 22 million devices.

Sony recently announced that it expects to distribute more than 14.8 million PS5 consoles in the year leading up to March 2022, exceeding the PS4’s second-year supplies. However, the company acknowledges that the chip shortage is making it tough to meet demand. Prolonged limitations could stifle production.

Ryan also stated that the PS5 is on the verge of being profitable, with normal hardware manufacturing predicted to break even next month. The PS5 is also available in a digital format.

Chinese Market

“Market reception has been absolutely extraordinary,” Ryan stated about the PS5’s arrival in China recently. He also noted that Sony will increase its local marketing assets. They plan to concentrate on establishing local collaborations and deliver titles that are made in China.

Sony will increase investment in its heavyweight studios and joint ventures in order to increase its user base and commercialize its intellectual property. The company intends to release more PC games as well as expand its classic PlayStation content to smartphones. According to Ryan, the use of its intellectual property in Sony films and television shows will lead to significant contributions to Sony’s overall outcome.
