Recommended Levels for Shadow of the Erdtree Main Bosses | Elden Ring

Ready to dive headfirst into Elden Ring’s “Shadow of the Erdtree DLC? Brave Tarnished, you are. But before you start, check out our recommendation on what levels you should be rocking before tangling with each main boss.

Divine Beast Dancing Lion 150-160 Fast and aggressive. Dodge attacks, use Spirit Ashes to distract.
Messmer the Impaler/Base Serpent Messmer 155-165 Two phases. Phase 1: Dodge fire and melee attacks. Phase 2: Watch for tail slams and fire breath.
Rellana, Twin Moon Knight 160-170 Two phases. Swift sword combos and magic attacks. Dodge is crucial. Lightning or Frostbite damage is effective.
Golden Hippopotamus 165-175 High poise and devastating attacks. Focus on dodging and hitting weak points (legs). Use Spirit Ashes for distraction.
Ralva the Great Red Bear 170-180 Massive size, sweeping attacks. Stay mobile and attack from behind. Bleed buildup is effective.
Black Knight Edredd 175-185 Powerful strikes and poise. Requires precise timing for dodges and attacks. Consider using a shield with high stability for blocking.
Blackgaol Knight 175-185 Similar to Black Knight Edredd, but with fire attacks. Fire resistance is beneficial.
Ancient Dragon-Man 180-190 Large area attacks and fire breath. Stay mobile and attack wings when vulnerable. Fire resistance is essential.
Curseblade Labirith 185-195 Dual-wielding swordsman with fast attacks and curse buildup. Dodge attacks and use items to mitigate curse buildup.
Jagged Peak Drake 185-195 Similar to other drakes, but with more aggressive attacks and lightning damage. Stay mobile and focus on dodging.
Ancient Dragon Senessax 190-200 Large area attacks and rot breath. Stay mobile and attack when vulnerable. Rot cleanse items are helpful.
Death Knight 195-205 Strong attacks and high poise. Requires precise timing for dodges and attacks. Watch for the grab attack.
Ghostflame Dragon 195-205 Agile dragon with fire and ghostflame attacks. Stay mobile and attack when vulnerable. Fire and Holy damage are effective.
Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze 200-210 Aggressive swordsman with fast combos. Dodge attacks and punish openings.
Promised Consort Radahn/Radahn, Consort 200-210 Two phases. Wide range of attacks and high damage output. Prioritize dodging and learning attack patterns. Use Spirit Ashes for distraction. During Phase 2, dodge Moon Drop and Double Sword Slam.

Things to consider:

  • Your chosen class, gear, and how you play the game matter way more than any arbitrary number. You might be a spell-slinging sorcerer who can outsmart a boss a few levels above you, or a strength-build juggernaut who steamrolls everything in their path.
  • Before you go toe-to-toe with the Erdtree’s nastiest denizens, take some time to explore the new areas. Snag those sweet, sweet runes, upgrade your weapons and armor, and maybe even summon some spirit buddies to back you up.
  • Don’t be afraid to call on your Spirit Ashes or team up with fellow Tarnished warriors. Hey, even the Elden Lord needed a helping hand sometimes, right?
