Here’s How Sixers Head Coach Nick Nurse injured his finger in game 5 vs Knicks
Head coaches, despite being on the sidelines, seem to be getting injured recently. First, it was Minnesota’s Chris Finch, and now it’s the Sixers’ head coach, Nick Nurse. Finch reportedly will be undergoing knee surgery after colliding with a player. Meanwhile, it was reported that Nick Nurse injured his fingers in Game 5 against the Knicks. This makes us wonder: how did the former coach of the year and NBA champion sustain that injury?
Slammed too hard?
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse slammed his hand too hard after reacting to a referee’s call in game five against the New York Knicks. After sustaining the injury, Nurse reportedly couldn’t draw plays on the board because he couldn’t grip a marker.
There have been multiple occasions where Nurse retaliated against the referees. Just recently, the 2020 Coach of the Year awardee was severely disappointed after his call for a timeout was ignored during game 2 of the first-round series against the Knicks.
Thankfully, things turn out well as the Sixers secure the win in thrilling fashion. Philadelphia, with Tyrese Maxey leading the way, escaped elimination as they beat New York in overtime, 112-106. Maxey, who allowed the Sixers to survive, finished with 46 points in 17-for-30 shooting.
But, Nick Nurse’s fingers seem to be doing well during the post-game interview
The severity and type of injury (whether it may be a sprain or break) are yet to be disclosed. Fortunately, it seems that it may have quickly healed and that the former Toronto Raptors head coach will try to keep the Sixers’ season alive.
Nick Nurse was the former coach of the Toronto Raptors. The team, then led by Kawhi Leonard, won the 2019 championship over the Golden State Warriors. This season, Nurse assumed Doc Rivers’ position as the 76ers head coach just after the James Harden saga.
