Malaysian singer Xu Jialing has passed away leaving the nation in shock and grief. She was 26 years old and looking forward to marrying her beloved boyfriend when she was brutally murdered by a stalker. This tragedy has once again brought the safety of celebrities and women under global attention.

Malaysian singer Xu Jialing loses her life to the obsession of a fan
On Monday, December 18, Xu Jialing decided to meet her persistent friend and fan, who has been pursuing her for two years. She texted about it to her boyfriend at 1:30 PM and shared that she would be meeting him at a local restaurant. The supposed friends shared a meal and discussion before leaving the restaurant.
Following this, their meeting soon took a violent direction when the 44-year-old male fan attacked the singer with a knife. She suffered eight wounds on her chest, and back, among which an attack upon her heart became the reason for her demise. After recovering from his rage the suspect transported Xu Jialing into his car and drove home.
Footage uploaded by Goody Malaysia on Instagram captures the suspect checking the body of the singer. She appears to be seated in the passenger seat but she had already lost her life by that time. Realizing the gravity of the situation he reportedly attempted to injure himself with the same weapon and is currently admitted to a hospital.
What motivated the crime?
Police reached the residence of the suspect after receiving a witness’s call. They arrested the 44-year-old man who claimed to be the boyfriend of Xu Jialing. However, Xu had recently accepted the marriage proposal of Liu Yuyang. The couple started dating in March and have been living together since July.

They were expecting a happy future together and had clicked wedding photos a day before the tragedy. As per BNN Breaking, Xu’s boyfriend and her brother held a press conference on December 19th requesting witnesses to come forward. Police are still investigating the motive and details of the crime and wish to reconstruct the sequence of the incident.
