Stardew valley is an excellent example of an how the indie gaming industry has evolved over the recent years in putting even the biggest simulation games created by multi-million dollar behemoths to shame. So when I tell you that developer ConcernedApe has just added in a multiplayer mode for the single-player top-down RPG game, don’t be surprised.
Yes, this is not a bluff, the much awaited multiplayer mode for Stardew Valley is now officially out and is currently running on public BETA for testing before full release. Let’s have a look at what the new multiplayer mode is all about.
What is new: This brand new multiplayer feature brings with it the ability to play the game with enjoy the game with upto four other players online who will serve as employees to the player who is hosting the session. The players will collaborate with each other in performing various tasks. The difficulty settings can also be changed to decide the split of profit.
Additionally, the visiting players are also provided with the ability to marry/divorce with the town’s NPCs and most interestingly, to each other as well(as Polygon puts it). After the divorce the players can destroy the cabin of the farmland to force them to move out.
Although the core focus of the mode is upon the multiplayer itself, the developers have implemented several single-player activities as well. A new winter market festival with special items has been created that will run for three days. Also, horses can wear hats now!
