Netflix’s smash hit Stranger Things is returning for a 4th season after a Season 3 finale that left many issues unresolved in 2019. It seems like the upcoming season has a much darker plot. 🙈
For the first time, we are witnessing the evolution of a story into something considerably more sinister as it progresses over the series’ course. This is especially true of the Harry Potter films; which have a tendency to shift from a lighthearted tone to a more serious one as time goes by. Observing the debuts, it appears that Netflix’s Stranger Things series is about to tweak its formula and go with a more unpleasant environment.
A more mature take.
To appeal to a wide audience as well as to its actors, who were mostly children when the series began, the Duffer brothers’ series has always looked toward the norms of a horror film. However, it has opted to preserve a refreshing mood to do so.
Since the characters of the story are now adults, it seems that the tale wants to indulge in more harrowing craziness. Season 4 promises a much darker vibe, a horror movie atmosphere, according to the show’s creators.
“When we pitched it to Netflix all those years ago, we pitched it as the kids are… The Goonies in E.T.,” said Ross Duffer.
In other words, the upcoming season of Stranger Things will be a departure from the Goonies-like ambiance of the first series, and will instead be inspired by legendary horror films like the ones with Freddy Krueger, or Halloween.

This time around, Season 4 of Stranger Things will be broken into two phases, the first of which will premiere on May 27 and the second a few weeks later on July 1. Since Season 4 is longer than previous seasons, the Duffer brothers decided to reduce the entire thing in half, as per their statement.
Lastly, it’s worth noting that Stranger Things’ upcoming season will bring us face to face with several of the series’ most beloved characters, including Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Max (Sadie Sink), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), and Jim Hopper (David Harbour). We’ll be able to visit Russia’s cold areas or California’s gloomy coasts because most of the personalities will be spread out around the globe.
