There is a frantic sense of nostalgic bliss underlying every ancient magical RPG storyline. Luckily for you, the age old 95 eras’ Suikoden 1 and 2, which were instant PlayStation hits, are renewed for a remastered release. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
What is the Suikoden game about?
The history of Suikoden is one blemished with classes, heroes, monsters, dragons, demons, armies, and royal kingdoms. Some of these themes have become famous as of late, thanks to a particular genre of Anime called Isekai.
Magical fantasy worlds have, however, been imagined for a long time. Baldur’s Gate, Skyrim, and Dragon Age have always played a vital role in many RPG lovers’ growing of age. But there’s a gap –
What is Suikoden 1 and 2 Remaster?
Whereas Suikoden 1 and 2 both of which came out in 1995 and 1998 respectively, titles like Dragon Age for one example are quite recent. As such the gameplay is immaculately larger.
The recent RPG games (even if you name The Witcher 3 into it), are based on third-person perspectives and an immersive story.
Old console gamers may however look more for a 2D sprite mix. Because truth be told, even a 2D game like Undertale can have an immersive storyline.
Suikoden 1 and 2 Remaster will incorporate HD backgrounds with old 2D Character sprites
A recent trend in the gaming industry has been, however, to mix in 2D and 3D gameplay. This attests itself to lovers of all kinds.
Coming in 2023, Suikoden 1 and 2 are HD Remasters of the original titles that came out for PlayStation 2 back in 1995. The storyline follows over 100 protagonists, as it is based on a Chinese novel.
In Which platforms will Suikoden 1 and 2 Remaster release?
The latest Suikoden 1 and 2 are developed by Konami. And as per their official site, the games Suikoden 1 and 2 Remaster are set to premiere on the following platforms –
- Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows
When will it release?
Konami says a release window of 2023 without specifying which month. We expect it to release before June, although that’s just our educated guess.
What is the plot about?
Suikoden 1 follows the story revolving around the villain. Who was once a hero but then turned into a tyrant and his empire fell.
As liberation rose against this villain, 108 stars of Destiny came together to put an end to his oppressive rule. Hence why I said over 100 protagonists.

Suikoden 2 follows our hero and his friend Jowy. They are members of the Unicorn Youth Brigade. This unit participates in an ongoing war between the Kingdom of Highland and the City-states of Jowstown.
Even after both the nations sign a peace treaty, things go south as an underlying war breeds within.
