Netflix just announced that the hit fighting game ‘Tekken’ is getting its own anime series called Tekken: Bloodline. Although there is no specific release date yet, the announcement promises that Tekken: Bloodline is coming this 2022.

Tekken: Bloodline focuses on the story of Jin Kazama and the Mishima family

The trailer shows Jin training with his mother, Jun Kazama. But while they are training, Ogre arrives and attacks the two fighters. To refresh your memory, Ogre is one of the bosses in the Tekken games. He previously appeared in Tekken 3, 4, and 5. Additionally, Ogre is so far the only boss villain in the game who does not belong to the Mishima family.

Netflix made the announcement about Tekken: Bloodline through tweets that feature the trailer and a poster with Jin Kazama as the model. Moreover, the trailer posted on YouTube already gave eager fans an idea of what the anime is about.

Tekken: Bloodline releases this 2022

Aside from the trailer, nothing else is revealed about Tekken’s anime adaptation. But judging by the official synopsis of the show, it seems we’ll be getting a clearer picture of what truly went down between the Mishima family.

Furthermore, it’s possible the anime will show the Devil Gene mutation between the three key persons in the Mishima family: Heihachi, Kazuya, and Jin.

Read the show’s official synopsis below:

“Power is everything.” Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.
