The creative director and co-creator of the game series and HBO show, Neil Druckmann, discussed the status of Part 3 during his press tour. And we’re not really sure if it’s happening any soon. Although there is certainly room for a sequel.
The Last of Us 3 Rumors and Speculations
During a recent interview with Buzzfeed, Druckmann was once again questioned about The Last of Us 3. Of course, there’s great demand for it, especially with the outstanding HBO adaptation keeping it on everyone’s minds. However, his response might temper some of the excitement:
“Our process is the same thing we did when we did , which is if we can come up with a compelling story that has this universal message and statement about love — just like the first and second game did — then we will tell that story. If we can’t come up with something, we have a very strong ending with and that will be the end.”
But, gamers, that’s not the end we were expecting. In April 2021, it was confirmed that he has written a story outline for a third game, but it’s not currently in active development.
The Last of Us 3 in Production: Is it true?
- According to the reputable and well-known leaker @ViewerAnon, who has accurately leaked information in the past. It appears that a third game in the series is currently in active production.
- We’ll have to wait a while longer to see the game, as Naughty Dog has multiple other projects in the works.
- Also, continuing the story after Part 2 will pose significant challenges.
Will The Last of Us 3 be able to keep the fans hooked as the previous part?
Last year, Neil Druckmann revealed that discovering the emotional center of the story in Part 2 proved more difficult. Then it was in the first game because of players’ previous knowledge and experiences.
