UK: PlayStation 5 Has Become The Best-Selling Console of 2021

Despite stock limitations, Sony’s PlayStation 5 has, so far, emerged as the best-selling console of 2021 in the UK.

The PS5 is now the leading console “with a healthy lead over Nintendo Switch”. The report comes from Christopher Dring, Head of GamesIndustry.biz.

He writes, “Stock levels improved greatly for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in the UK in May. Both platforms did better last month compared with April. PS5 now the no.1 console for the year, with a healthy lead over Nintendo Switch. Xbox [is] also catching up.”

The last big PS5 drop in the UK was on May 19, when Amazon.co.uk restocked the console. Both the Standard and Digital editions were live, the former going live first.

Since its worldwide release on November 12, the PlayStation 5 has become the world’s most-wanted consumer product (in a sense). Stock issues still prevail with hundreds and thousands of people still looking out for a chance to purchase the console at retail price.
