Valorant – What is Swiftplay mode?

Along with the Chamber adjustments in Valorant 5.12 came a new mode for players to enjoy. A new game mode called Swiftplay is now available in Valorant and it’s essentially a bite-sized version of the standard Unrated mode. Valorant 5.12 introduces Swiftplay mode to players

A lot has changed in Valorant 5.12, with the highlight of the patch being Chamber’s adjustments. Although this proved to be quite the bad news for Chamber mains, Riot Games is making it up to their players by testing out a new game mode. The Swiftplay mode is now available for everyone with the latest Valorant client.

• Before Swiftplay was released, players had to settle for modes like Replication and Spike Rush if they wanted a quick match. Although these modes are fun to play, it just doesn’t feel like a regular game in Valorant. In Spike Rush, the guns are predetermined and your agent’s abilities are already purchased. As for Replication, you have access to the Buy screen. The only catch is that you and your allies are playing the same agent in a best of 5 game

• If you wanted a standard Valorant match that wouldn’t affect your rank, you’re left with no choice but to go with Unrated. The only problem with Unrated is matches can take a long time to finish. Did you know that an average match in Unrated takes around 40 minutes to complete? Even though it isn’t high stakes like the ranked matches, some players tend to get really competitive in Unrated

Are the rules different in the new game mode?

Fortunately, Swiftplay follows the same rules and guidelines in a standard Valorant match. There are differences in the economy, Ultimate points, and how many rounds you need to take in order to win a match in Swiftplay. In Unrated, teams race each other to win 13 rounds. As for Swiftplay, your team only needs to win 5 rounds.

• It still follows the same Attackers vs Defenders set-up in a standard Valorant game. Defenders wait for Attackers to enter any of the two or three sites on the map. They can either defuse the Spike or wipe out the enemy team to win a round

• As for Attackers, there will only be one player holding the spike. Same as the Defenders, they can win the round if they eliminate the enemy team or the Spike is detonated
• The changes in Swiftplay can be seen in the number of Ultimate Points each player is given, how much money you have at the start, and the 600 cred bonus a team gets when they win the Pistol Round

Matches played in Swiftplay mode should only take around 15 minutes to complete. This time, you can finally say that you’re hopping on a quick game of Valorant. You can also play this mode if you’re looking for a new warm-up before queueing in Competitive matches.

Swiftplay mode in Valorant is currently in beta and it will be available to players until January 10, 2023. No word yet on what Riot Games plans to do with the game mode after January 10. For now, let’s enjoy it and try to get as many dubs as possible in Swiftplay!
