Vampire Survivors: A Surprising Indie Hit On Twitch

BY JC Paredes 4 years AGO 2 MIN READ

Vampire Survivors, a new game that started trending this week, may have caught your eye. In theory, it’s as addicting as a mobile game despite its flaws, thanks to its Castlevania-inspired visuals.

Since its debut on December 17, 2021, several streamers have tried their hand at Vampire Survivors. In a retro-looking 2D game; the player controls a character and has to fight against a variety of enemies for 30 minutes.

You just need to move your character while the weapons and skills you take up are automatically activated. Castlevania-inspired visual style includes cops, monsters, and even satanic-religious mythology. As the game progresses and the player acquires legendary weapons and abilities, the adversaries grow in number and strength.

An Unexpected Hit

However, how does this game captivate its players? Firstly, it’s the rewarding cycle formed by the game: we clear up hordes of enemies one by one, while the music made during the gathering of experience points urges us to do more and more.

Not to mention the many combinations the gamer may create. It’s possible to pick up, mix, and evolve a wide variety of things from three distinct classes. To complete the game in its entirety, you’ll need to put in at least ten hours of work. Afterward, you’re excited to start again!

Worth the money!

An addictive principle on paper, but also in practice! Vampire Survivors has become one of the most-watched games on Twitch in the last three days, making it into the top 50. An overwhelming 99% of the over 7,000 reviews of the game on Steam are positive. According to the comments, this is a really addicting game that plays well and costs only $2.99, making it an excellent value for money.

Since March 2021, I've worn two hats at Spiel Times: a writer and a Managing Editor. In my writing role, I've earned recognition from Wikipedia and Nev Schulman (Catfish TV Show host) for my insightful analysis and engaging narrative style. I'm passionate about all things gaming, with a keen eye for detail and a knack for uncovering hidden secrets within games. My gaming journey began at a young age, captivated by titles like Resident Evil and Tomb Raider. Today, I enjoy exploring open-world RPGs and MMORPGs, consumed by their lore and crafting theories about their narratives. I'm also drawn to the suspenseful atmosphere of horror games and the intricate narratives of crime-themed titles, bringing a unique perspective to my writing. Beyond gaming, I have a fascination with anything unexplained and chilling, a passion that often spills over into my exploration of horror games. When I'm not engrossed in a virtual world, you can find me curled up and spending time with my adorable doggy sidekick, Teemo. As Managing Editor, I'm committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for our writing team. I communicate openly with my team members, addressing any content-related issues and providing guidance to help them excel.
