Why don’t we start off our August with fun and enjoying movies? Surely there are millions out there for you! But, today, we will be giving you a list of movies and shows from Netflix you might want to try out this month!

One of the popular streaming apps, Netflix is offering more content to watch this month. With new releases and new additions, there’s a lot in their library that will surely fulfill your movie needs. Featured in this list are mostly recent additions while some were added in the past months but still deserve a watch!

MOVIES & SHOWS TO WATCH ON NETFLIX IN AUGUST 2022

1. The Sandman

The Netflix original show based on the comic book series of the same name, The Sandman, was just released a few days ago but it’s already getting a lot of attention.

Published by the famous comic franchise, DC Comics, The Sandman revolves around a cosmic entity who manifests himself in the realm of dreams. Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), also known as “Dream”, is the main protagonist of the series. After being held captive for more than a hundred years by a wizard, Morpheus finally found his freedom. But, he must immediately begin his journey to fix the disturbance that the wizard (and his absence) has caused in various dimensions.

2. Carter

The famous South Korean actor, Joo Won (King of Baking, Good Doctor), stars in a Netflix original action/thriller film titled “Carter”.

Joo Won plays the titular character in this movie who seems to have lost all of his memories. Without anything with him, Carter must follow all of the orders that the voice inside his ear is telling him to do. He must embark on a very dangerous mission to one, escape death by following the voice’s commands; two, rescue a hostage and stop a deadly virus; and, lastly, find out who he is and who is behind all of these mysterious happenings.

3. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

The third Spider-Man movie from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios is finally on Netflix! As a subscriber, you now have a chance to see the three Spider-Men (Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield) band together in an epic and whimsical adventure.

After the death of Mysterio, Spider-Man’s real identity was exposed to the public. It was then that Spidey was dubbed as a murderer and his life as well as his family and friends were greatly affected. When Doctor Strange and Peter Parker a.k.a Spider-Man botched a memory-wiping spell, the two unintentionally disrupt the natural order of the multiverse. Little did they know, villains from other universes have come to their universe to wreak havoc and destruction. Fortunately, his multiversal variants are also here to save the day.

4. Stranger Things: Season 4

The fourth season of Netflix’s sci-fi series ‘Stranger Things” was released last May but it is still trending as we speak. If you haven’t watched it yet, you can now catch up to Stranger Things: Season 4, Volume 1, and Volume 2 which are already both available on Netflix.

Volume 1 was released on May 27 but the second one was aired shortly after on July 1. Set in the ’80s, the fourth season continues the peculiar events in the quiet town of Hawkins. When a few teenagers begin to be murdered mysteriously, the whole gang (Dustin, Max, Steve, and others) only to find out that the killings are meant to become sacrificial lambs to open the gate to the “upside down” and release the powerful monster dubbed as Vecna.

5. Purple Hearts

When music accidentally meets love, everything will change between two different people.

Despite having extremely opposite personalities, an aspiring singer-songwriter (Cassie) agrees to marry a troubled marine (Luke) to have the man’s military benefits and insurance. However, when Luke got wounded on the battlefield, things began to turn tides. What seemed to be a love that was just for show now has become reality.

6. Ghostbusters: Afterlife

“If there’s something strange, in your neighborhood, who ya gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS!”

Following the events of the prequel, Ghostbusters: Afterlife sees the connection between a single mom and her kids with the original Ghostbusters and the secret that their grandfather has left them behind. Not only will they unfold the mysteries in their new town, but they will also reignite the fire of supernatural and paranormal entities that are out for vengeance.

7. DotA: Dragon’s Blood (Book 3)

The animated series based on the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) of the same name, DotA: Dragon’s Blood gets picked up for a third season which will be airing on Thursday, August 11.

Featuring the adventures of Davion, a brave yet problematic Dragon Knight, alongside other pivotal characters like Princess Mirana, Invoker, and many others. Davion sees himself in a very tough situation in Book 3 as he and the others must fight off Terrorblade, a deadly demon, whose sole purpose is to kill everyone and rule all of the kingdoms.
