Who is Ian? BTS Jungkook accidentally shares his personal TikTok account in Weverse post

There are no secrets on the Internet and from the ARMYs. Aside from enjoying numerous ‘Seven’ dance challenges on TikTok, the Internet has discovered another thing. The fans of BTS experienced a fortunate accident that opened a well-kept secret of Jungkook, AKA his personal TikTok account under the alias Ian. The name might seem random, but there is a story behind its origin that baby ARMYs might not know. Let’s find out.

Who is Ian? The reason behind Jungkook’s TikTok account name

The global superstar interacted with his fans on August 1 through the Weverse app. He shared a link to ENHYPEN‘s Jungwon and Jay participating in the Seven dance challenge on TikTok, praising their skills. The ARMYs that opened the link found a pop-up message saying, ‘Join Ian on TikTok,‘ which revealed the private TikTok account of Jungkook to the world.

• The name may appear random, but a story behind its origin connects it to Jungkook. When BTS appeared as a guest on the variety show Knowing Bros, they shared the stage names they almost debuted with. The Dreamers singer especially tried many stage names, including Seagull and Tattoo, before debuting as Jungkook.

• During the segment, he also shared that another name that didn’t pass the cut was Ian. Despite not passing the race to stage name, it did manage to make its way into the BT21 universe as the nemesis of Cooky from the rival group AT21.
• Ian used to be a close friend of Cooky, but they had a fallout. Ian also looks similar to Cooky but is in a slightly different pink with black ears. Jungkook enthusiastically created the backstory, which reminded his fans that he is indeed the youngest member of BTS.
• Following this, the name made another appearance in the spotlight as the name of Jungkook’s private TikTok account. However, after learning that fans can view the account name, the BTS maknae quickly changed it to JK, stating that he uses an account to monitor activity or simply for viewing videos.

After ARMYs found out about the TikTok account name, they began trending various hashtags, including Jungkook Ian, BTS Ian, and Mr. Jeon Ian on the X (formerly Twitter). Jungkook also confirmed that @Letjungcook7 is his private account and shared that he was embarrassed by getting caught. The accidental revelation of Jungkook’s TikTok account under the username Ian (changed to JK) also validates the past reaction of ARMYs to a fake TikTok account of the artist. A TikTok user opened an account with the username @Jung.kookieOfficial and reposted videos from BTS’s social handles.

• While some netizens mistook it for his real account ARMYs were quick to point out that the owner of username @abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz, before he left Instagram for good, would only choose something similarly iconic for his personal TikTok account. Their guess was right on the mark as Jungkook picked @Letjungcook7 as his solo TikTok account username.
• He has also broken the record of garnering the fastest 1 million followers on the video-sharing site and surpassed Johnny Depp as the most-followed celebrity. It will be interesting to see how he uses the now-public TikTok account to interact with his fans.
