Why Twitch banned Kai Cenat – Is he moving to Kick?

BY Katherine Felix 3 years AGO 5 MIN READ

Kai Cenat has been one of Twitch’s top content creators over the span of his streaming career. Despite raking in lots of revenue for the platform, it appears that he is not at all untouchable. After news broke out of Kai Cenat getting banned on Twitch for the fifth time, there have been talks of him moving to Kick. This is a rival streaming platform that has been slowly but surely enticing former Twitch creators to make the switch. Will Kai Cenat do the same or will he go back to streaming on Twitch after the ban lifts? Here’s what we know.

Why Kai Cenat got banned on Twitch for the fifth time

Kai Cenat is undeniably one of the most popular streamers in the world right now. However, he has run into multiple hiccups over the course of his career as a content creator. This isn’t the first time he’s gotten banned on Twitch too; in the past, Kai Cenat received four other bans.

The most recent ban has left fans dumbfounded since there is no official statement from the streaming platform explaining why a ban was imposed. Even Kai Cenat himself hasn’t revealed the real reason why he got banned. However, some fans speculate that some of the reasons may be the following:

  • Riding a dirt bike and crashing it into his set up while live streaming the whole thing

  • Trying out an edible laced with marijuana and eventually passing out on camera

These are only some of the top reasons why Twitch made the decision to ban their most subscribed creator. However, fans suggest that the first instance is most likely the real reason. Kai Cenat received his first ban of 2023 earlier this year, and it’s likely that it’s because of him taking the edible on his livestream.

  • On the other hand, some fans have decided to poke fun at the content creator’s current dilemma. According to them, Twitch may have given Kai a ban because he preferred the custom-made shoes he got from Kick compared to Twitch’s gift.

  • Of course, this doesn’t seem like the real reason. If it was, then it’s a poor decision on Twitch’s end given how popular Kai Cenat is across their platform.

Is Kai Cenat moving to Kick?

With the way Kick is slowly enticing Twitch creators to make the switch, it’s no secret they want Kai to join them. So far, a lot of Twitch content creators are considering moving over to Kick.

One of Kick’s main selling points in getting more streamers to join them is their generous sub revenue split. Compared to Twitch who reportedly takes 50% of their streamers’ revenue, Kick will give their creators 95%. This has definitely attracted Twitch streamers, with Chess Grandmaster Hikaru “GMHikaru” being one of the streamers who switched over to Kick.

As for Kai Cenat, there is currently no indications on whether he will be moving or not. However, it’s obvious that he is not all that happy with the way he is being treated by Twitch. A lot of fans have also been pointing out that Twitch is not taking care of their most popular streamer.

As the tweet from Goose Wayne reads, it’s inevitable for Kai Cenat to move to Kick. With the way things are going over at Twitch, there is a big chance he’s considering his options. Plus, it will be a big day if ever he does decide to move over to another platform.

As of writing, there is no telling how long Kai Cenat is banned on Twitch for now. He is going live on Instagram later with American professional boxer Gervonta Davis where he might reveal more of what just happened with his Twitch account.
