World Esports Championships 2022

The 14th annual World Esports Championship is back at it again after almost a three-year hiatus. The whole event has already begun last December 1 and will conclude on December 12, 2022. The stage is already set in Bali, Indonesia for the biggest congregation of gamers and esports fanatics.

There are more than 100 participating teams representing their own countries but only one team per game will be crowned as the champion. A prize pool of $100,00 will be shared by the gold, silver, and bronze medalist in each game. The champions will be given $50,000, while the second and third placers (silver and bronze) will be getting $30,000 and $20,000, respectively. ALL GAMES IN THE TOURNAMENT

Though it’s not the biggest game on Steam, DotA is considered to be the biggest Esports in the world. From DotA 2 Majors, DPC Cups, and The International, DotA has created some of the biggest esports tournaments in recent memory.

The DotA playoffs are almost coming to an end with just four nations left. The final matchup will be a fight between the winners of Laos versus Thailand game and the Philippines versus Indonesia game. It’s quite impressive to see that four South East Asian teams are fighting to be the DotA World Champions this year. Laos will take on Thailand tomorrow, December 7, 2022. Meanwhile, the Philippines will battle Indonesia on a similar date.


CS: GO

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has the largest amount of players on Steam right now. With almost 600,000 avid gamers, CS: GO has produced some of the finest virtual soldiers from all over the globe.

All matches in the 1st round of the double elimination round are scheduled for tomorrow, December 7. Meanwhile, the second round will be held the day after, December 8.

CS: GO (All-female tournament)

Female players are also jumping in on the CS: GO craze and they are good! Although Poland has already beaten Indonesia in the earlier stage, they could still meet in the finals again if Poland wins against Argentina tomorrow and Indonesia beats the same Argentine team to advance from the lower bracket to the grand finals.


Tekken 7

The classic arcade fighting video game has been around since 1994 and due to its huge fanbase, the game has been going on until now. The latest installment, Tekken 7, is one of the most awaited games in Esports tournaments with how entertaining it is to watch.

As of December 6, only four countries are left fighting for the title of the World Champions for Tekken 7. Thailand, Pakistan, Kuwait, and India are all on the waiting list.


Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is probably the best MOBA for mobile today. Sorry Wildrift, but MLBB takes this one.

Indonesia has already locked its position in the grand finals. They are still waiting for who wins between Cambodia and the Philippines. The winner will be decided in a best-of-5 series on December 11, 2022 (09:00 GMT+8).


PUBG Mobile

Battle Royale is surprisingly still being played today and it’s even included in this year’s World Esports Championship. Many thought the genre is dead but here we are, with

Currently, the play-in tournament is still ongoing with three groups. The matches will be on December 2, 5, and 7 and only the top 11 teams will advance to the playoffs.

Group A: Libya, Senegal, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Azerbaijan, Sri Lanka

Group B: Korea, Mauritius, Bahrain, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, Iraq

Group C: Ghana, Jordan, Djibouti, Guatemala, Maldives, Egypt

The finals will take place in a three-day span (Dec.8~11,2022) at Hotel Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia. All in all, there will be 15 participating teams in the playoffs. The 11 teams from the group stage, as mentioned, will advance alongside the host country (which will be automatically invited). The remaining four teams are the teams that have won their respective regional qualifiers (Asia, PANAM, Europe, and Africa).

You would be extremely surprised to see that eFootball 2023 has the most players out of all the games in this tournament.

Even in video games, Argentina is still a dominant team in football. With their win against Japan earlier today, they are bound to be in the grand finals with Iraq, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. The match dates are yet to be announced.
