Xbox Cloud Gaming Is Coming to Samsung TVs This June

Last week, Microsoft announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming is coming to Samsung TVs this June. What this means for Samsung TV owners is they can soon be able to play Xbox games using their TV without needing to hook up a console. Read on to find out more.

Xbox is redefining cloud gaming as it brings the feature to televisions and monitors

According to the official announcement from Microsoft, Cloud Gaming will be available on Samsung devices. This includes monitors aside from televisions. If you’re familiar with the concept of cloud gaming, it’s the ability to stream video games on your devices.

Before Microsoft revealed this news, their Cloud Gaming feature is already available on PC, mobile, and Xbox consoles. But with this new feature, you don’t have to own an Xbox console or even a computer to play their games. This is also a first for the gaming industry as gamers don’t need a console to play, just a TV.

However, you still need to have a gaming controller and pair it with your TV through Bluetooth. The compatible controllers for the app aside from the Xbox ones are PlayStation DualSense and DualShock 4. Additionally, players can also hook up headsets to make use of voice chat.

The Xbox app will be available in 27 countries

An Xbox app is going to be available for download on Samsung TVs. Furthermore, Microsoft promises that this will “be a seamless experience, similar to using other streaming apps on your TV.” As of writing, there are still some countries wherein the Cloud Gaming feature is not available.

But for those who can make use of Cloud Gaming, it’s likely they’re part of the 27 countries who can get to experience this new way of gaming. These countries include the United States, Canada, and Japan. Cloud Gaming will be available in 27 countries starting June 30.

Additionally, it was also announced that Argentina and New Zealand are getting the Xbox Cloud Gaming feature.

Microsoft aims to open up new ways for people to have the Xbox experience

In their official blog post, the company shared their vision to bring Xbox to more people. From starting with Cloud Gaming on PC, mobile, and tablet devices to making it available on Smart TVs. All interested players need is an Xbox Game Pass which is available for just $1.
