Xenoblade Chronicles has gained a huge number of followers in recent years. After the first game (Nintendo Wii) in 2010, every subsequent Nintendo console has featured the game. Recently, talk has been going around that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is in development already!
Monolith Soft, the developer of the Xenoblade series, is expected to make an announcement by the end of the year regarding Xenoblade 3. A report by Fanbyte has stated that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was to be revealed early in 2021. However, the pandemic and optimization issues caused delays.
Coming Soon?
Though there has been no official announcement from Monolith Soft, it has been known that the studio has been actively hiring for a project related to Xenoblade for some time now. The delay in the release has also been partly because of the release of Pokemon Legends: Arceus in January 2022. According to reports, Monolith Soft has been facing difficulties in optimizing Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for the Nintendo Switch.
- Melia’s voice actor, Jenna Coleman had hinted in an interview in June that fans may expect a third installation. Fanbyte news editor and insider Imran Khan have provided more information; confirming that the game is under the final stages of development. He also stated that the release may get delay due to several factors. Additionally, if all goes well, the release can be by the first half of 2022.
- The new sequel will have an aim at accounting for “more character models on screen at once” than previous installations. This goes for both enemies and playable characters. The optimization issues are in relation to the sequel’s technical objectives that include more characters. The ending might take place in the far future. Few characters that have outlived their human counterparts from Xenoblade Chronicles and Chronicles 2 return.
