Yoimiya was a character who was unfortunately sandwiched between two fantastic and anticipated banners back at the beginning of Genshin Impact’s 2.0 version. She also had the misfortune of having a relatively lackluster kit that conflicted with itself, and her numbers seemed to not be as effective as some of the strongest characters.

Despite all this, Yoimiya has garnered a set of ardent fans. Partially due to her characterization, and also because her kit is admittedly fun to play. These fans would likely use her regardless of her power level. However, they don’t have to choose between fun and power anymore, thanks to a new addition to the Genshin roster.
Yoimiya, Yun Jin Synergy
- Yun Jin, a character introduced in 2.4 alongside Shenhe’s banner and Xiao’s re-run, is a unit that specializes in rocketing any character’s normal attacks to the moon.
- Most units in the top tiers of Genshin focus on charge attacks, skills, or bursts to get their massive damage in, but Yoimiya is one of the few who does not.
- Yoimiya cares a lot about her normals. So now she can normal herself all the way to the bank with hugely upgraded damage, all thanks to Yun Jin.
- Yun Jin hasn’t made too much of a splash so far. The community isn’t too sure where she belongs yet, outside of hypothetical multi-element teams. However, this new synergy between her and Yoimiya has made fans of both characters excited to pair them together to bring a previously underutilized unit back into the spotlight.
Maximizing Yun Jin
- In order to maximize this effect, Yun Jin needs to be built with defense and energy recharge in mind. The amount of extra damage tacked on to Yoimiya’s normal attacks is based on Yun Jin’s defense stat; prioritize that in your weapon, artifacts, and substats for Yun Jin.
- The Favonius Lance will help with Yun Jin’s energy generation to keep her burst up. The artifact set Husk of Opulent Dreams will help increase Yun Jin’s defense even further, shooting Yoimiya’s damage as high as her fireworks can take it.
Maybe you were unsatisfied with Yoimiya after pulling her, only to have your interest piqued now that she has a new best friend in Yun Jin? Maybe you discounted her before, and might want to consider wishing for her now on a potential re-run in the future? Either way, it’s nice to see Genshin indirectly fixing some of their problems to bring underrated characters back into the fold.
