- According to the tip from Redon, Oda will be taking a break after chapter 1088 which might be around for a duration of one week followed by the next chapter, Chapter 1089.
- The break after Chapter 1089 is a break for the entire Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine because of Summer Vacation in Japan and not Oda’s break.
While most of the fans are sceptical about the break, especially since Oda took a month-long break especially, the other half think that it’s a well-deserved break and Oda will be back to work like he always has before too.

What to Expect from Chapter 1088
The title of One Piece Chapter 1088 is “Last Lesson”. According to the spoilers, the chapter will pick up where the previous chapter left off, with Koby and Helmeppo fighting against the World Nobles. Koby will use a new attack called “Honesty Impact”, which will apparently be very powerful. The chapter is also said to feature a flashback of Koby’s training with Garp.

While the spoilers don’t expletively mention it, it can be presumed that Kuzan is also using the Ice Time Capsule, effectively defeating Garp but not killing him as seen with Saul’s survival of the attack.
Another interesting fact is that the narrator says that Garp’s ultimate fate is “unknown,” rather than saying he’s dead outright, which defies Oda’s way of typically handling death or disappearances in the anime so the fans are perplexed as to what it could mean.
