The Internet has been abuzz with pictures of mounds of pasta found in the woods near Old Bridge, New Jersey. The images were shared by a former City Council candidate, Nina Jochnowitz.
On April 28, Nina posted photos of piles of cooked pasta dumped into a river basin. She uploaded the images on Facebook, which soon became viral on social media. People wondered where the pasta came from and who dumped pounds of cooked pasta in the woods.
New information about the case revealed that a military veteran disposed of the noodles while cleaning his deceased mother’s home.

There were different shapes of pasta dumped in New Jersey
Nina Jochnowitz joked about the incident calling it a “Mission Impastable.” She added to the meme by writing:
“It was like the song, on top of spaghettiiiii, all covered with cheese.”
While describing the illegal dumping at the Veterans Park, Nina wrote:
“The Mayor and his (posse) continue to ignore the Sixth Ward. No surprise when we see the dumping of construction and other garbage spewed in all of the neighborhoods. This week, there was a new type of dumping, of excessive food, PASTA.”
Her post also revealed that the mess was later cleaned up by city officials.
According to pictures available on the internet, a mix of different kinds of pasta was dumped at the creek in the park. Neighbors in the area told news portals, that the noodles were discarded by an army veteran who was clearing his deceased mother’s house and found a stockpile of uncooked pasta.
Keith Rost, a resident neighbor said:
“I mean, I really feel like he was just trying to clear out his parents’ house and they were probably stocked up from COVID. My grandparents always had a cupboard full of cans and pasta, just to be safe.”
What did the town administration say?
Himanshu Shah, business administrator for Old Bridge Township told the media that the officials found out about the situation from social media and that they were not informed previously. He also added:
“DPW visited the site and did in fact find what appeared to be 15 wheel barrel loads of illegal dumped pasta along a creek in a residential neighborhood.”
However, it took two public works employees only an hour to clean the mess. He also shared that the pasta had been uncooked when it was disposed of, but it became soaked with rainwater. He said:
“We would estimate several hundred pounds of uncooked pasta that was removed from the packaging and then dumped along the creek, it looks like it was only there for a short time but moisture did start to soften some of the pasta.”
