After Two Years in Early Access, No More Room in Hell 2 Finally Heads to Consoles
Zombie survival fans have another big release to look forward to this summer. After a lengthy Early Access period, No More Room in Hell 2 is finally getting its full launch with plenty of new content in tow. Better still, console players will be able to join the experience for the very first time. That makes it one of the top upcoming video game releases for anyone who enjoys tense cooperative gaming.
Cross-play arrives as consoles join the fight
After nearly two years of community feedback, Torn Banner Studios has confirmed that the sequel will launch in version 1.0 on August 11, 2026. The full release is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X|S. Through a publishing partnership with Green Man Gaming, the game also arrives with full cross-play across Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation, and XBOX. Why does that matter? You can team up with friends on any platform, while larger matchmaking pools should help you find games faster.
Instead of focusing on nonstop action, the developers have leaned further into survival horror. Teams of up to eight Responders must search for supplies, complete objectives, and survive relentless zombie attacks. Every decision is important since permadeath means losing a character forever. As if that were not enough, infection can quickly turn a successful mission into a fight for survival. It’s the kind of design that continues to influence modern gaming trends.
New modes make version 1.0 much bigger
Alongside the full release, Torn Banner is introducing several features designed for both newcomers and veterans. Solo Mode allows players to explore maps, practise mechanics, and learn objectives without risking permanent character loss. Want to get familiar with the game before joining friends? That’s exactly what this mode is built for.
Meanwhile, Survival Mode becomes a permanent feature after its earlier limited-time appearance. Squads must defend speaker towers against ever-growing zombie waves while buying time for civilian evacuations. Fresh locations also expand the experience, with Flooded, NOTLD, and Lighthouse built for Survival Mode, while Bunker delivers a brand-new objective-focused map.
Beyond the headline additions, the studio says version 1.0 includes more than 8,000 community-driven bug fixes and performance improvements. Match reconnect, an “Unstuck” option, interface upgrades, and redesigned difficulty settings are all included.
Beginner now features timed respawns to ease new players into the experience, whereas Hard and Nightmare have become far more punishing. Together, those changes show how player feedback has continued to influence game development throughout Early Access.
Fresh start and launch discounts
Everyone will begin with a clean slate when version 1.0 goes live because progression resets for the official launch. Even so, Early Access players will receive exclusive cosmetic rewards based on their previous play history. New cosmetic packs expand character customisation, while Weekly Assignments reward players with Merits, a gameplay currency earned entirely through play instead of purchases. Native achievements and trophies are also available across every platform.
Ahead of launch, XBOX pre-orders include a 20% discount. From August 11, Steam and the Epic Games Store will offer 35% off, while PlayStation and XBOX storefronts will each offer 20% discounts. The standard edition is priced at $29.99 / £24.99 / €29.99 before promotional pricing and joins the latest game releases arriving this summer.
Considering everything included in version 1.0, the game has every chance of becoming one of the top upcoming video game releases, while also standing out among the latest game releases of the summer.
