GTA 6 Players Could Start 19 Hours Earlier Depending on Where They Live

GTA 6 is edging closer to launch, and the final wait will not be equal for everyone. Rockstar’s blockbuster is set to arrive on November 19, 2026, but regional store data suggests players will unlock it at different times worldwide. That staggered rollout could leave some fans watching gameplay clips hours before they can start playing. For anyone tracking the biggest top upcoming video game releases, launch timing is suddenly part of the conversation.

New Zealand goes first

PlayStation Store timestamps compiled by GTAVice.net point to 15 major release windows spread across roughly 19 hours. New Zealand is expected to go first at 11:00 UTC on November 18, which is midnight on November 19 locally.

Australia follows two hours later, before the rollout moves through Asia, Europe and North America. Central Europe is listed for 23:00 UTC on November 18, while the UK follows at 00:00 UTC on November 19.

That leaves some players waiting many hours longer than others before they can start. The staggered approach is familiar in gaming, but GTA 6’s scale means spoilers and early livestreams could spread unusually quickly.

North America waits longer

US and Canadian PlayStation Stores appear to use one nationwide release point at 05:00 UTC on November 19. That translates to midnight Eastern, 11pm Central, 10pm Mountain and 9pm Pacific.

Mexico and several Central American countries are currently listed for 06:00 UTC, making them the last confirmed window. Players there could therefore be starting 19 hours after New Zealand.

Fans have already raised concerns about avoiding social media while other regions begin posting footage. For creators covering game reviews and other top upcoming video game releases, those gaps could also make launch-day publishing more competitive.

Xbox may have a shortcut

Xbox owners may have another option. Several reports say the familiar New Zealand trick could still work by changing the console location to New Zealand, potentially letting players elsewhere access the earliest window.

Exact Xbox unlock times have not yet been confirmed, though, so that workaround should not be treated as guaranteed. On PS5, simply changing the console setting does not move the release time because purchases are tied to the PSN account region.

Playing early there would require a separate New Zealand account and a purchase funded through that region, such as an NZ gift card. That extra friction makes the Xbox method more appealing for gaming fans hoping to get in first.

Preload starts November 12

Preloading is expected to begin on November 12, giving buyers time to install before release. Boxed copies are also set to ship that day, although the package reportedly contains a digital download code rather than a playable disc.

Rockstar has not revealed the final storage requirement, and Sony or Rockstar could still revise the PlayStation schedule before release. Those details may sound minor beside game development or wider gaming industry innovations, but for GTA 6 they could shape the opening hours of one of the year’s biggest releases.
