Among Us: Servers Shut Down After DDoS Attack

BY Katherine Felix 4 years AGO 2 MIN READ

Among Us players were greeted with its servers offline last weekend. According to tweets from the official Among Us Twitter account, the DDoS attack began on March 24 and it shut the game’s servers down for quite some time.

Among Us servers in North America and Europe shut down for over two days

At first, issues with the servers went unnoticed by Innersloth, the team behind Among Us. But after receiving various reports from players unable to log onto the game, they finally took to Twitter to announce just what was happening. According to Innersloth, the servers in Among Us were experiencing a DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack. That would explain why players couldn’t log in or why rooms were suddenly closing.

Nearly two days after the announcement about the DDoS attack, Innersloth announces they are working on fixing it. But even though the servers were greatly affected by the sudden DDoS attack, Innersloth assured us that they are doing their best to get the game up and running again. Although players could log on and play a few games, it was still a bit risky because the servers “may come on/off”, according to the Among Us devs.

After four days, Among Us servers are up and running again

This DDoS attack proved to be a bit of a problem for Innersloth as servers were down for over four days. But like they say, it’s better to be safe than sorry. We can only hope that there are no more DDoS attacks targeting the beloved social elimination game after this.
