Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Why Eivor Wears The Hidden-Blade Openly?

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

When we got to know that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is bringing back the hidden blade, something didn’t seem right. Why was Eivor, our might Viking wearing the hidden-blade (ironically) openly on his wrist? Wasn’t it supposed to be hidden? Well, here’s the explanation.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Narrative Director, Darby McDevitt explained the reason to PlayStation Official Magazine UK for their latest issue. “I call it the conspicuous blade,” McDevitt says. “It was very important in Norse culture that when you get into battle and you killed somebody that you’d be very upfront about it. There’s this idea of being upfront about your actions, so we decided that symbolically if we put the hidden blade on the top he would feel like he wasn’t being clandestine, or shady. That’s kind of a philosophical reason behind why it’s on top of his wrist.”

So, that’s the explanation for why Eivor wears the hidden-blade openly on his wrist. There’s much more to cover regarding Assassin’s Creed Valhalla from the magazine as it has some mind-blowing facts you’d love to read.
