It’s time to rejoice if you’re a Suicide Squad fan or an anime fan or both. The Suicide Squad anime has just been announced at Anime Expo 2023. It’s a collaboration project between Wit Studio x Warner Bros Japan. The much-awaited project already had some famed personalities associated with it.

As the West becomes more and more comfortable adapting the Japanese-influenced style of Animation, we are pushed to get more and more works along the lines of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. This is especially true given the former’s astounding reception, with it’s one year anniversary of release looming within this coming September.

The project was announced followed by the release of the trailer and key visuals. As the project is announced officially, here’s everything we know so far. Ranging from the breakdown of the trailer to the potential reception of the anime.

Wit Studio x Warner Bros Japan Upcoming Anime

Famous works of Wit Studio include Attack on Titan and Spy x Family. Previously there have been rumors about Warner Bros working on One Piece but they were just as good as wishful thinking in the end.

The Anime Trailer and Key Visuals

The trailer and key visuals are more than enough to stir excitement and hype among fans. They were dropped shortly after the anime announcement. The incorporation of Western design and anime aesthetics looks dope. It gives off similar vibes as Cyberpunk Edgerunners. The music is complementing the overall vibe of the trailer.

The trailer also gives us a sneak peek into the isekai world and it’s a bit skeptical. The Suicide Squad anime is bound to pique the interest of comic fans. How they’ll receive it is something entirely in the future.

Re:Zero’s author and other members working on the project

If the fact that it’s a collaboration of Wit Studio, DC, and Warner Bros Japan wasn’t enough to get you excited here’s more.

The anime project has already brought on board famous personalities. All these people have an established history in the genre of Isekai except for Akira Amano, who is working on the character designs.

  • The author of Re: Zero light novel, Tappei Nagatsuki will be working on the script of the Suicide Squad anime alone with Eiji Umehara.
  •  Eiji Umehara previously worked on Pokemon: The World of Us and Re: Zero.
  • Eri Osada is handling the direction. He has previously worked on Kobato and The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat.
Conclusion

The incorporation of Western elements and anime has not always been received well by fans.

Also, the fact that the anime is going to be an Isekai has the fans confused. Nonetheless, the Suicide Squad anime announcement has been received with hype.

There are two fandoms the anime will be appealing to the weebs and the fans of the DC comics. The creators will hopefully keep the pot boiling with snippets of information. Rest assured, we’ll keep you updated with all of them.
