Axie Infinity: New Balance Changes, Season 20 Coming Soon

Axie Infinity is still one of the most popular win-at-all-costs games. Axie Infinity is currently on season 19. Season 19 set the bar high, with fresh thrills and challenges. Let’s take a look at what to expect from Season 20 as players anticipate new collectibles and products in the game.

Start Date for Axie Infinity Season 20

Axie Infinity, a popular NFT game, just released a balance patch as well as graphic updates. On January 17, 2022, the balancing patch will go online for play-testing on the buffs and nerfs that have been implemented. This will pave the path for crucial hotfixes for Season 20, which kicks off in February.

Season 19 of Axie Infinity introduced several interesting modifications that improved playability. Purebred Aquas experienced some significant nerfs in Season 19, and gamers are now expecting similar changes to rebalance the meta.

New Balance Changes

The cards Third Glance and Sunder Claw, which disable your opponent by discarding one random card from their hand, are among the significant nerfs. To make this work right now, it needs to be with another card that causes the player to spend more resources in order to activate its effect. This is a significant blow to the cards since they will no longer be exchanging resources 1:1, but rather 2:1. If the card is with itself or another discard effect card, it will acquire greater value.

Another major Axie Infinity nerf is the “anemone” cards, which restore 100 health per card if the axie has double anemone. They reduced the attack and shield values, even more, making it vulnerable to full-scale attacks. Due to the damage reduction, its kill potential will be further reduced.

Some of the cards are also overly buffed, with a total of 165+ stats assigned to them. Shipwreck, Neuro Toxin, Woodman Power, and Grub Surprise are examples of these cards. You can even acquire one axie to have three of them, which will be difficult to remove out while still packing a punch. These aren’t final until Season 20 kicks out.

Game Mechanics

In-game mechanics relating to the computation of Skill value have also been changed. Instead of adding base damage, the Skill value now utilizes a percentage. Here’s how to figure it out:

Calculation of Bonus Damage:
(Skill x 0.55 – 12.25) / 100 * Card Damage

The meta will change dramatically as a result of these extreme adjustments for specific lineups. This gives people plenty of opportunities to switch axies. Season 20 is approaching, so we’ll see whether there are any more adjustments.
