In Gummy Nightmares, you play as Player One, a kid who wakes up in a creepy amusement park with no clue how you got there. This place, once filled with laughter and cotton candy dreams, is now a deserted wasteland.
The cuddly mascots have morphed into creepy, robotic hunters! Imagine a giant blue monstrosity like Huggy Wuggy from Poppy Playtime, but way less cuddly and way more murder-bot. Definitely not the hug you were hoping for.
This chilling trend of mascot horror has been steadily gaining momentum in recent years, building on the foundation laid by classics like Five Nights at Freddy’s. The creepy contrast between childhood innocence and pure terror is what makes this genre so effective.
It’s Not All Hide-and-Seek
While Gummy Nightmares shares that eerie vibe and monstrous mascots with Poppy Playtime, there’s one key difference: you can fight back! Unlike some of the other mascot horror games where you’re basically a defenseless prey, Gummy Nightmares lets you grab a slingshot (or whatever weapon you can find lying around).
You have the chance to defend yourself against those robotic nightmares. This adds a whole new layer of gameplay, making it more action-packed and empowering (who doesn’t want to blast a creepy bear with a slingshot?).
When Can I Play?
Gummy Nightmares is still under construction, but you can already wishlist it on Steam! The release date is January 2025, but the trailers and gameplay footage are available on BabyZone’s YouTube channel.
