Best TV shows of 2022 and where to watch them

TV and streaming had an amazing year, even better than film. We had some fantastic new debuts on streaming platforms as well as emotional farewells to some iconic shows. Big titles like Stranger Things and Euphoria released new seasons to appease their teen fans.

As we near the end of 2022, let’s take a look at ten curated shows to pick from. The shows belong to a variety of genres with different runtimes and streaming platforms.

Reservation Dogs

Created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, the show is about four friends growing up on a reservation in rural Oklahoma. Their goal is to make it to California by any means necessary.

  • Season 2 premiered this year with ten fresh episodes. The episodes are 25-30 minutes long and the show streams on Hulu.

Better Call Saul

Starring Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn, Better Call Saul started as a spinoff of the GOAT of TV shows, Breaking Bad

  • Six legendary seasons later, Vince Gilligan’s show has ended and today, it’s a GOAT in its own regard.

  • The final season premiered in two parts, now streaming on Netflix.

Atlanta

Atlanta is undoubtedly FX-Hulu’s flagship creation. Show creator Donald Glover stars alongside Brian Tyree Henry and LaKeith Stanfield as they return to the rap scene of Atlanta for one last time.

Severance

  • Severance is an essential viewing if sci-fi psych thrillers are your thing. It revolves around corporate drones turning into two different people sharing one body.

Barry

A wood-faced hitman realizes his true passion is stage acting. Very few premises excite the audience as much as Barry’s does.

  • Bill Hader returns for the third season this year and pushes the show to its absolute limits. With eight episodes each season, the dark comedy streams on HBO.

Pachinko

The show focuses on a family’s struggle in the time of Japan’s occupation of Korea and how much it impacted future generations.

  • Pachinko’s opening credits sequence is magnificent. Min Jin Lee novel’s adaptation streams on Apple TV+.

Andor

  • A prequel to a prequel to a prequel is something only the Star Wars franchise could pull off. However, Andor is a step back from their idealized fantasy-like treatment and more into a mature realistic zone.
  • With great performances and visceral drama, Andor is a well-deserved win for Disney+.

House Of The Dragon

2022 signaled the arrival of two major fantasy spin-offs from Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings. And House of the Dragon was a clear winner

  • The show borrows the best bits from the GOT saga brushing aside the disappointing final season of the biggest TV show ever made.

Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders started off as a Western set in Birmingham. And the final season ends almost like a gothic drama

  • The ending sets up a near-perfect base for the show’s upcoming feature film. But Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby will be sorely missed on the smaller Netflix screen.

The Boys

There’s no stopping Amazon Prime Video’s breakout superhero series.

  • The Boys evolved from being an ultra-violent joyride into a political satire mainly thanks to Antony Starr’s Homelander.
  • The character is a reflection of modern America and initiated a meme-fest.

  • The pandemic had a massive impact on the television industry, albeit a positive one.
  • Ticket sales around the world are down 30 per cent. Because it’s hard to ignore all the great TV shows we have been getting at home on a regular basis.

There is a show out there for everyone to binge watch according to their taste. This watchlist is just beginning to cover it. What show would you recommend adding to our list?
